Context menu in the Solution Explorer

The context menu in the Solution Explorer opens to you almost all the possibilities to work with your projects in The Welkin Suite. The set of the options, that are available from the context menu, depends on the item that you select: a solution, project, folder, or file.

The context menu of a solution gives you access to the basic operations with the solution.

  • Build Solution — executes the build for all the projects in this solution,
  • New Solution Explorer View — opens the solution in the new Solution Explorer panel,
  • Add ⇒ New Project / Existent Projectadds a new project to the solution,
  • Rename — helps to change the name of the solution,
  • Open Folder in File Explorer — navigates to the location of the solution in your file system,
  • Properties (the Alt+Enter hotkey) — opens the Property Page for the solution.

From the context menu of a project, you can execute literally any existing operation related to the project.

  • Build — executes the build for the selected project,
  • Deploy Objects — executes deploying objects from this project,
  • Build and Run Test (the Ctrl+F5 hotkey) — executes the build and runs the Tests on the org with the newly build changes,
  • Import data to the org…loads data to your organization,
  • Enable project structure sync — turns on the synchronization of the project structure,
  • Scope to This — collapses the Solution Explorer to the selected project,
  • New Solution Explorer View — opens the project in the new Solution Explorer panel ,
  • Add ⇒ New Item / New Folder (the Ctrl+Shift+Alt hotkey) — adds a new item or folder to the project,
  • Debug — executes the debugging,
  • Pull from Salesforce — executes the pulling changes,
  • Scan with PMD — executes PMD checking for your project,
  • Run tests (the Ctrl+R, Ctrl+T hotkey) — launches the Run Tests window,
  • Cut (the Ctrl+X hotkey) — cuts the projects from the solution,
  • Remove (the Del button) — deletes the selected project,
  • Rename — helps to change the name of the project,
  • Open Folder in File Explorer — navigates to the location of the project in your file system,
  • Properties (the Alt+Enter hotkey) — opens the Property Page for the project,
  • Project metadata components — opens the window with a list of available project metadata components and the ability to manage them,
  • Deploy to organization — executes the deploying to the selected org,
  • Show Local History — opens the Local History panel for the project,
  • Show Local History Details — opens the Local History Details panel for the project.

The context menu of a folder in the Solution Explorer represents the main operations that can be done with a folder.

  • Add ⇒ New Item / New Folder (the Ctrl+Shift+Alt hotkey) — adds a new item or folder inside the selected folder,
  • Scope to This — collapses the Solution Explorer to the selected folder,
  • New Solution Explorer View — opens the folder in the new Solution Explorer panel,
  • Cut (the Ctrl+X hotkey) — cuts the folder's content from the project,
  • Copy (the Ctrl+Ctrl hotkey) — copies the folder's content,
  • Properties (the Alt+Enter hotkey) — opens the Properties window for the folder,
  • Pull from Salesforce — executes the pulling changes,
  • Scan with PMD — executes PMD checking for the selected folder,
  • Show Local History — opens the Local History panel for the folder,
  • Show Local History Details — opens the Local History Details panel for the folder,
  • Rename and Delete — if the folder is empty, you are able to change its name or remove it from the project.

  • Open / Open Withopens the file in the editor or helps to manage its opening,
  • View Code — allows to view the code of the file in the editor,
  • Scope to This — collapses the Solution Explorer to the selected file,
  • New Solution Explorer View — opens the file in the new Solution Explorer panel,
  • Cut (the Ctrl+X hotkey) — cuts the file from the project,
  • Copy (the Ctrl+Ctrl hotkey) — copies the file,
  • Delete (the Del hotkey) — deletes the selected file,
  • Pull from Salesforce — executes the pulling changes,
  • Scan with PMD — executes PMD checking for the selected file,
  • Properties (the Alt+Enter hotkey) — opens the Properties window for the file,
  • Show Local History — opens the Local History panel for the file,
  • Show Local History Details — opens the Local History Details panel for the file,
  • Open in browseropens the selected file in a browser for preview. This option is available only for the Visualforce pages.
