How to compare versions
The ability to compare the versions is only 1 click away from you: click on the Compare button near the file in the Local History panel.
In addition, the Compare functionality is also available from the Local History Details panel. In order to do so, you should right-click on any file in the version details section of the panel and select one of the two options:
- Compare with previous version — it compares this file in the selected version with the same file in the version before,
- Compare with current version — it compares this file in the selected version with the current state of this file.
Both these options open the diff view for comparing the selected version of the file with the necessary one.
The Compare feature is a suitable tool for visualizing the differences between the current version of the file and the version that you have selected.
All the changes between the versions are highlighted:
- a red background means that the content was deleted in the newer version,
- green highlighting means that the content was added in the most recent version.
However, you can always see this legend in the bottom of the Diff viewer. In addition, you can see a 'map' of the changes across the file right in the scrollbar.
All the options of the Compare tool also can be reached on the Compare Files toolbar.
